Pakistan slams ‘cowardly’ US Airstrike for killing 11 soldiers
June 13: Pakistan said a “cowardly” air strike by US-led forces killed 11 Pakistani troops on Wednesday near the Afghan border and warned that it had harmed cooperation in the war against terrorism.
The army accused the US-led coalition in Afghanistan of launching an unprovoked attack on a checkpost in Pakistan’s volatile Mohmand tribal zone while the foreign office demanded an investigation.
Kandhar Jailbreak Frees 1,200
June 13: Taliban fighters blasted into Kandahar’s main prison last night and freed about 1,200 inmates, including 350 Taliban, the New York Times reports. Prisoners, including Taliban leaders, quickly flooded the streets and scattered into nearby villages. “It is very dangerous for security,” a Kandahar politician said. “They are the most experienced killers and they all managed to escape.”

June 16: Afghan President Hamid Karzai has threatened to send troops into neighboring Pakistan. “Any such adventurous movement will face solid resistance”, Says Pakistan. A spokesman for the Foreign Office has made it clear that Afghan troops and the International Security Assistance Force can take whatever action they want against terrorists in Afghanistan, but not in Pakistan.
Karzai Escapes Attack in Kabul by Gunmen
April 28, 2008: Three people were killed in the brazen assault, ruining what was supposed to have been a proud moment for Afghan security forces. The ability of the attackers to get so close to Mr. Karzai, who escaped unhurt, suggested they had inside help.
